Date : 22.07.25 Event : International Chess Day Celebration 2025 @ KPSB Kerala Public School, Burmamines enthusiastically celebrated International Chess Day 2025 to honor the intellectual and strategic game that continues to challenge minds across the globe. The day was marked by a series of engaging events aimed at promoting critical thinking, concentration, and sportsmanship among students. The celebration began with a special session on the history and importance of chess, conducted by Mr. Sayok Sarkar, a passionate chess mentor and enthusiast. He shared fascinating insights into the origins of the game, its evolution over the centuries, and its significance as a tool for enhancing mental agility and decision-making skills. Students were captivated by the discussion and gained a deeper appreciation for the game. The highlight of the day was an exciting chess competition among the students, which saw enthusiastic participation from all age groups. The matches were intense, reflecting strategic planning, patience, and focus. Winners were recognized for their skills and sportsman spirit, making the event both competitive and enjoyable. XII A) Special mention : Sagar Kumar (Std. X B) To combine creativity with intellect, a poster-making event on the theme “STRATEGIC THINKING” was also organized. Students expressed their understanding of planning and foresight through vibrant and thought-provoking artwork, emphasizing how chess principles can be applied beyond the game—in academics, leadership, and everyday life. The event successfully highlighted the educational value of chess and encouraged students to think more analytically and creatively in all areas of life.
