Kerala Public School, Burmamines, hosted its Annual Pre-Primary Nite showcasing a captivating dance drama titled ‘NAVDURGA – The Nine Stages of Life of a Woman.’ The evening was a heart-warming celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage and artistic expression, beautifully brought to life by the talented pre-primary students.
The event was graced by the august presence of the school’s Chairman Dr. Shrikant Nair, Academic Director Dr. Rachna Nair, Principal of NML KPS Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur, and Principal of KPS Burmamines Ms. Priyanka Barua, along with vice-principals and teachers from various schools. The dignitaries formally inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
The programme featured a vibrant series of dance drama performances that artistically depicted the timeless epic of the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Through colourful choreography, melodious music, and expressive storytelling, the young performers enthralled the audience while conveying powerful messages of courage, devotion, strength, and righteousness. Highlights of the evening included the Apsara Dance, Mahisasur Dance, and Kali Dance, each adding depth and splendour to the presentation.
Parents and guardians were warmly invited to witness and encourage the budding artists, making the evening a truly memorable cultural extravaganza. The programme aimed to introduce the youngest learners to India’s mythological heritage while nurturing creativity, confidence, and cultural awareness.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Ms. Priyanka Barua remarked,
“This event provides a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to connect with India’s cultural roots and understand the profound teachings of Goddess Durga. Through creative storytelling and performances, the students gain valuable insights into the ideals of righteousness, courage, and duty.”
The audience was left spellbound by the innocence, charm, and artistic excellence of the performances. The programme concluded with an address by the Director, Dr. Shrikant Nair, who lauded the teachers for their unwavering dedication and commitment and expressed his sincere gratitude to the parents for their constant support and cooperation.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the Vice-Principal, Mrs. Manisha Majumdar, who appreciated the enthusiasm and creativity of the students in portraying these timeless stories.
