As a part of the nationwide Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain Initiative, Kerala Public School Burmamines enthusiastically observed Jal Pakhwada Campaign 2026 with a series of impactful activities aimed at spreading awareness about water conservation and sustainable water management. The campaign served as an important platform to educate students about the significance of preserving water resources and adopting responsible practices for a better future. The programme commenced with the Jal Shapath, led by the Principal, Ms. Priyanka Barua, where students and staff collectively pledged to conserve water and use this precious resource judiciously. An insightful speech on Water Conservation and Water-borne Diseases was delivered by Ms. Namita Samanta, who highlighted the importance of water preservation, hygiene, and preventive measures to ensure a healthier environment. An Awareness Drive was conducted in the nearby areas under the guidance of Mr. Suman Sarkar, where students actively sensitized the community about the need to save water and adopt rainwater harvesting practices. An Essay Writing Competition, mentored by Ms. Naaz, was also organized to encourage students to express their ideas and concerns regarding water conservation. The winners were: 1st - Shital Purty (X A) 2nd - Ayushi Verma (X D) 3rd - Swarnava Bhowmick (XII A) A Poster Making Competition on the theme “Rainwater Harvesting & Water Conservation” was conducted under the mentorship of Mr. Aditya Kumar. The winners were: ???? Category A (Classes III to V) 1st - Sukriti Anand (V B) 2nd - Shubham Mandal (V B) 3rd - Ishan Toppo (IV B) ???? Category B (Classes VI to VIII) 1st - Aliya Kumari (VII C) 2nd - Akanksha Sinha (VII D) 3rd - Lakshya Patro (VIII B) Additionally, a productive meeting with active student representatives was conducted under the leadership of Mr. Ravi Shankar Singh to discuss and review the various Jal Pakhwada activities, encouraging student participation and leadership in environmental initiatives. The campaign successfully instilled awareness and responsibility among students regarding water conservation. Kerala Public School Burmamines remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting environmental consciousness and empowering students to become responsible stewards of natural resources.
